As this route is guided by the river you are never too far from a small village to cut your trip short should the weather change or you simply fancy taking a break at one of the pubs dwelling within. The beauty of doing this trip with a Red Paddle Co inflatable SUP means no matter where you decide to land, you can easily pack-up your board and catch a bus or taxi home.
The  heavily wooded banks of the river make it a perfect SUP destination to spot a wide range of local wildlife - keep an eye out for the friendly seals that can often be spotted relaxing in the river waters by Totnes.

The trip we have lined out below is roughly 9 miles long by inflatable paddleboard but with the assistance of tide and wind, it is a perfect way to spend a day soaking up the beauty of this serene Devon river.

Leave your car in Dartmouth and catch a bus to your starting point in Totnes. Alternatively there is pay and display parking in Totnes town.

Launch at the step entrance by the Totnes rowing club.

  • Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten

Depending on your budget there is a wide variety of choice here. We recommend staying in Dartmouth and catching a bus to your starting point in Totnes so you are close to home once you finish.

  • Essen und Trinken

The major highlight of this trip and a must if tide allows is a stop at the Sharpham Vineyard café. The vineyard has two landing areas from the river which are accessible until about two hours either side of high tide. A short walk later and you’ll find yourself on the south facing banks of the vineyard enjoying a crisp glass of locally made wine. There is a fabulous independent café on site but I would recommend booking as it can get busy on sunny days in summer.

As you arrive in Dartmouth there is a huge amount of eateries to refuel from your trip, the Rockfish being a particular must for those wanting to taste the famous works of Chef Mitch Tonks.
